Advanced Driving Tests
These include:
- The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) test
- The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) test
- The DIAmond Advanced Motorist (DIA) test
A suitable length session can be arranged to assess your driving on all types of road and then further sessions can be tailored to concentrate on the areas you need more experience with or feel less confident about.
All three tests will benefit you by:

DIAmond Advanced Motorist Test
Most traffic accidents are caused solely by driver error. Little, if any, further training is taken by the majority of drivers after passing the basic driving test.
How are you helping improve road safety?
You passed your driving test a while ago. You have since learned to handle the stresses of today's congested driving conditions. You are an experienced driver.
But are you an advanced and defensive driver?
Put yourself to the test and apply for the DIAmond Advanced Motorist test today!
The basic driving test allows the candidate to make up to 15 minor errors taking less than 35 minutes to complete.
The DIAmond Advanced Test will take over an hour and will include most road conditions. A maximum of six minor faults will be allowed. The DIAmond Advanced Driving Test was the first advanced test available to the general public which examines the Driving Standards Agency's recommended syllabus for driving in its entirety. The DSA continues to monitor these tests.
Those candidates who can demonstrate their skills and knowledge of risk awareness at this level can confidently call themselves DIAmond Advanced Motorists. It is especially good training for potential or existing driving instructors who wish to improve their skills base.
The system of driving will remain the same as you were originally taught but you will be expected to demonstrate a progressive drive and a higher degree of skill and competence. All the manoeuvres contained in the recommended syllabus may also be examined.
As you are aware, conditions can be entirely different when driving at night, in snow, on ice, in bright sunlight, in the rain or on the motorway. To ensure that appropriate experience of these conditions has been achieved, an instructor is asked to sign your application form. I can tell you what to expect on the test.
I will prepare you for the DIAmond Advanced Test and in particular ensure that you have knowledge of how to negotiate with safety:
- Driving at night
- Driving during inclement weather
- Driving on a motorway
