You must pass the theory test to be able to take the practical test. You will need to be able to answer 44 questions correctly out of 50 in order to pass.
You will also have to pass a hazard perception test which consists of video clips of driving situations. You must react as early as possible to the actual or potential danger.
There are various theory test centres around the country and the two in this area are at Portsmouth and Worthing. They use touch screen computers and are easy to use.
The theory test is based mainly on the Highway Code. There are various official books, DVDs and CD-ROMs etc., which will help you to study. I will provide you with additional information to help you with the theory test.
You can also practise the theory test at various online sites including the Driving Standards Agency website. They are responsible for organising driving and theory tests and you can find more information on the links page.
You can book a theory test by post, by phone or online. To book by post, you must get a form from me or from the Test Centre. To book online you must go to the DSA Theory Test website and follow the instructions.
You will need your driving licence number which can be found on either your photo-card or paper licence and credit/debit card details. Have pen and paper ready when you call to note down the information.
Make sure you are ready for the test otherwise you might waste your money!
